New remote tune up service! Only $90.00

We’ve just launched our new remote tune up service! Call us up, arrange a time, and we will set up a one time remote connection to your PC.

We’ll tune the computer up for you, and you don’t even need to leave home! Full tune up service includes virus and malware scans/removal, unwanted software removal, clean up and optimisation of your whole computer – Mac or PC.

New computers come with all sorts of preloaded software that you don’t need – add that to the many programs (wanted and unwanted) that get installed over time, and your computer will be moving like a sloth… Head over to the tune up site for more info.

IMPORTANT – be careful with your email attachments!

There has been a very large run of ransomware viruses lately – you get an email that looks like an invoice, possibly from someone you know, with a zip attachment. We have had customers that have opened these with very bad results.

If you open these attachments, you will get a word document, that then asks to to ‘enable macros’ to view. This will infect your machine, and your files will be encrypted. The only way to decrypt them is to pay a ransom to a dodgy eastern European website, and hope you get an unlocking program in return. The best defense is to be vigilant about opening attachments, especially zip files, and to keep good backups. This new infection has bypassed many antivirus systems already. Please contact us if you would like more info.

Here is a sample of the emails you may recieve:

Warning for Mac users – first ‘ransomware’ reports…

Users of the Mac torrent client ‘Transmission’ should update immediately to version 2.92 – head to www.transmissionbt.com and get the latest update.

A web hack allowed an upload of a malicious version of the torrent client, which installs a ‘ransomware’ application. This application lies dormant
on the system for a few days, and then begins to encrypt all your data – eventually demanding payment for access to your files. Once this has happened
there is no way to get your data back without paying the cost.

If you would like any advice about the situation please give us a bell – (09) 4355 435 or (0221) 027 021.
